1964 Chevelle Malibu SS
- My High School Car |
|
|
|
1964 Chevelle Malibu Super Sport., white
with correct chrome and black interior.
Car is 95% original with matching
numbers.
-
283 engine, 2bbl, completely overhauled
24,000 mile ago, .030 over cylinder bore and stock components with a
.010/.010 crankshaft. All new or reconditioned parts used.
-
Has de-clutching fan, 3-core air
conditioning radiator and fan shroud all factory original.
-
Powerglide transmission, overhauled
(new seals, gaskets, bands, clutch packs, etc.) same time as engine.
It was replaced with a 200/4R overdrive to go on the Hot Rod Power
Tours. The Powerglide has been reinstalled with new reconditioned
converter. The original converter had a fine groove on the seal
surface. I didn’t want the new installation to leak.
-
Car is equipped with factory power
steering.
-
Has 2 speed wipers with washers.
-
There are 4 wheel drum brakes
(completely overhauled before the Power Tour, new wheel cylinders, shoes
and drums turned).
-
The front end was rebuilt before the
Power Tour with new control arm bushings, ball joints and outer tie rod
ends. It has just been aligned.
-
Black interior with bucket seats,
console and floor shift. Has factory gauges in dash (original). No tears
in seats. Seats have been redone by a professional upholster.
New carpet installed before we started the power tours. The inside
door panel are original and show the wear. Dash pad is not
cracked but has some glue on it that I can not get off. (Looks like a
cement used to hold a cup holder in place.) Have factory tach
available. Car came with no radio; an original delete plate is
installed. I had an after-market AM/FM radio set on the floor with an
antenna hidden in the trunk and four speakers and wiring installed.
That radio has been removed.
-
Car came with factory A/C. It has
been modified to R134A using the original compressor, mounting brackets
and factory passenger compartment components (air ducts, housing,
controls and evaporator). A late model accumulator has been
installed and after-market condenser. This is the 5% that is not
original. 37°F air was available at the center air duct with this
system.
-
I have miscellaneous parts that will go
with the car.
-
Car has been in 3 Hot Rod Power Tours,
traveled to Detroit, MI from Tulsa, OK also making an appearance in the
Woodward Cruise, to and from Tulsa, OK by way of Los Angeles, CA to
Nashville, TN. (long hauler).
