- The disc brakes were installed because power disc brakes provide far better front braking than the four wheel drum brakes the car came with. The four piston fixed caliper disc brakes were available in 1968 on the Chevelle. The 1968 four piston discs had to be ordered and are rare.
- The only items salvaged from this disc system pictures were the spindles and calipers. The calipers were exchanged as cores for remanufactured calipers. A really great thing was the metal lines from the caliper to the brackets; they served as patterns for The Right Stuff to make the correct shaped lines. They were able to provide a set of special metal brake lines for the 1968 Chevelle SS disc brake system.
- The new rock shields and brake light warning switch were also provided by The Right Stuff. All the brake and fuel lines are from The Right Stuff. These parts are correct and can be easily installed. Note the various lines in the Frame pictures section.
- The rotors required turning. The 1968 two (2) piece rotor has a minimum thickness of 0.965 inches. These rotors are at or thicker than the minimum thickness. Original two piece rotor are not available at this time and are rare.
