This impressed me
more then anything else. As we got off the bus, we all stood in front of a
what looked like a garage door. A minute later the doors opened and we
headed into the A/C & a stand up theater. This showed the start of the
race into space, the competition with Russia and John F. Kennedy's speech of us
going to the Moon! From there we headed into what I thought was another
theater but I was wrong, it was the actual control room for the Apollo & Saturn
V programs.
After we all gather
they dimmed the lights and started a demo of what would it was like in the
control room when a rocket was launched. I was able to turn the flash off
on my camera to take these pictures as they frowned on anyone taking flash
photography. What an experience. This in itself paid for the
admission. I had no idea what was beyond the next doors but as you can see
below and actual Saturn V rocket was waiting. |
